Making smart choices and staying food safe is no easy task when you or someone you love has a food-borne allergy. For many in the allergy community, the terms “Nut Free” and “Gluten Free” indicate production in a designated facility.
In order to empower consumers to make the best decisions for their families with greater ease, we are clarifying even further Indigo Rabbit’s allergen program.
With regard to our cookie varieties that are free of nuts (Heavenly Chocolate Pillows, Gingerlicious, Luscious Lemon Chewies), great precautions are taken within our shared facility to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination with nut ingredients. Items that contain nuts are stored apart from non-nut items and production runs that involve nuts are produced apart from non-nut production.
Indigo Rabbit cookies that do not contain gluten by formulation are randomly tested for gluten. Our Perfectly Peanut Butter and Seriously Cinnamon Almond varieties are tested for gluten pre-bake, post-bake, and pre-packaging in order to ensure that they are negative for gluten. Due to the shared facility, however, Indigo Rabbit labels for these flavors will read “Wheat Free” instead of “Gluten Free” in the near future.
